PI, or the Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association (Puunjalostusinsinöörit ry), is a community for forest industry professionals, students, and companies. We support professional development, networking, and the future of the industry.

PI provides forest industry students and professionals with valuable networks, opportunities for professional development, and up-to-date insights into the industry. As a member, you gain access to events and an expert community that supports you from your studies through your working career and into retirement. PI is your professional network for life!

Membership is open to students, professionals, experts, and researchers in the forest industry, as well as those working in closely related fields.

• Annual Members: €85/year
• Annual Members with Spouse Discount: €36/year
  • The discount is available to the second member living in the same household.
• Recent Graduates: €36/year
  • The discounted membership fee is valid for five years after graduation.
• Student Members: €0/year
  • Membership is free for the duration of studies.
  • Student membership is available to bachelor's and master's degree students.
• Retired / Permanent Members: Supporting membership fee €66/year
  • The subscription to Puunvuoro magazine is included in the supporting membership fee.

Joining is easy. First, choose the membership category that best suits you, then complete the membership application form on our website. New members are approved five times a year at board meetings. Once your application has been processed, you will receive confirmation of your membership.

No, PI is not a trade union. The Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association (PI) is a professional network for individuals and companies in the forest industry.

No. PI is open to all students in the field (for example, chemistry, bioproducts, forest products technology, and process engineering) as well as professionals working in or alongside the forest industry.

You can end your PI membership by submitting a written notice to the association. If you are considering resigning due to a change in your circumstances or concerns about the membership fee, we encourage you to contact our office first. In many cases, we can help find a suitable solution, such as a temporary exemption from membership fees during periods of unemployment or family leave.

Every member is important to us, and we hope you will take a moment to reconsider before ending your membership with the Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association (PI).
