Speakers

Dr. M. Soledad Peresin is the Director of the Wood Utilization + Design Institute at Clemson University. With over two decades of experience across academia and industry—including her PhD. From NCState, research at Aalto University and  five years as a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland—her research advances the circular bioeconomy by transforming lignocellulosic biomass into high-value materials for packaging, construction, and environmental remediation applications. A recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, she has authored more than 80 publications and serves in leadership roles with TAPPI and the American Chemical Society.

 

 

 

Sirpa Välimaa is the Head of Business Segment, Pulp, Paper and Board at Sulzer. During her over 20 years in the forest industry she has been involved with a variety of products from sausage casings to pumps and from textiles to packaging design. Her heart beats for customers and driving novel business and innovations forward. Her current position offers her an outstanding outlook how to develop our product portfolio to offer the best performance in customer production processes and how we can support our customers in novel bio-product development.

 

 

 

 

Antti Kämäräinen earned a Master of Science in Forestry (Forest Economics and Marketing) from the University of Helsinki in 2004. He has extensive B2B sales experience with Finnish forest products companies. Since 2021, he has served as the Market Development Director at Boreal Bioproducts, a startup in Metsä Spring's investment portfolio.
