PI's Annual Meeting was held on 16 April 2026 in conjunction with the Pulp & Beyond event at Messukeskus. It was also possible to attend remotely. The meeting approved the 2025 annual report and financial statements, decided on membership fees, and elected representatives for the next term. In addition, three association awards were presented for significant contributions to the sector and to Puunjalostusinsinöörit ry.
Professor Herbert Sixta received the prestigious Lampén Medal, which is awarded for distinguished, wide-ranging technical and scientific work carried out in the sector. The association’s merit plaque, awarded for distinguished work in the sector, was presented to Professor Martti Toivakka and Sirpa Välimaa, M.Sc. (Tech.), M.Sc. (Econ.). Read more.
In the review of the annual report, key themes highlighted included the implementation of the strategy, the further development of sustainability work, support for student and local networks, and communications and learning content.
Other topical measures were also presented, such as the launch of a new AI functionality in the ForestBioFacts learning environment.
The AGM confirmed the membership fees for 2026. The fee for newly graduated members was reduced, and the fees for other member groups remain unchanged.
- Annual members: €85
- Annual members with spouse discount: €36
- Newly graduated young professionals: €36 (discount for five years from graduation)
- Student members: €0 (including one issue of Puunvuoro per year)
- Retired/permanent members: €66 (supporting membership fee including the magazine)
In future, all memberships will also include access to PI’s digital services (including member pages, puunvuoro.fi and forestbiofacts.com).
Elected representatives for the 2026–2027 term
The size of the Board has been moderately increased to 15 members under the new rules. Pia Nilsson (UPM) continues as Chair of the Board, and Matti Lares (Metsä Group) serves as Vice Chair.
Chairs of the committees were elected as follows:
- Securities Committee: Jyrki Ovaska
- Scholarship Committee: Kalle Ekman
- Young Professionals’ Forum: Ida Heimo
Kati Kareinen continues as auditor, with Grant Thornton Oy as deputy auditor.
Membership growth developed positively, especially among student members. During the spring, the association approved 10 new annual members and 126 student members. In addition, Adven Oy was approved as a new corporate member.
